Virginia’s View Challenge #1

Hi all!  Today I’m playing along with the fabulous Virginia View Challenge over at LilyPad.  I adore Virginia’s style.  Here’s the inspiration photo for the challenge:
I got my idea from this awesome card by Jessica Witty.  She blows my mind with every ingenious card she makes!  The heart dies and stamps are by Clear & Simple and the sentiment is from the Love Cupid set.

January 2012 Blog Hop

Happy Blog Hop Day!!  So, we were supposed to pick our favorite creation from 2011.  I had a hard time, but I finally chose this one:
Make It Monday #39: Multi-stamp Background Building by L. Bassen
I liked the colorful background pattern that you could create with modern basics, so I tried recreating it here:

After all this, I still really wanted something even simpler, so I ended up going this direction:

And now I’m truly, truly satisfied.  Quite a bit different from the original, but it’s most important to make mama bear happy:)
Thanks for hoppin’ by!

square punch challenge

square punch challenge by L. Bassen
Hi all!  Playing along with a couple of new challenges today.  I saw the Finally Friday challenge over at Two Peas.  The challenge was to use only papers from your stash.  The next challenge is over at the create blog.  The challenge over there was to use a square punch.  So I combined the two with this graphic striped design.  I used my square punch on some striped patterned paper and then cut the center square into quarters to give a better focal point.  The sentiment is from the Clear & Simple.  This is a great masculine b-day card, don’t you think?  Thanks for looking!

The Map to Your Heart Challenge

The Map to Your Heart Challenge by L. Bassen
Hi all!  Today I’m sharing a card I made for the Map to Your Heart Challenge over at the Moxie Fab World.  Italy is the first thing that came to mind.  I’ve been so fortunate to travel through there a couple of times while living overseas.  It’s a country that stays with you.  The people, the culture, and of course the food is completely contagious.  I think I went home and tried to speak like an Italian for months, like the men would say to the women on the street, “Bella, Bella! Ciao, Bella!” which means “hello, beautiful”.  So I printed out some small vintage maps of Italy and die cut them with the smallest heart die from Clear & Simple.  I try not to use that heart die on every card, but it’s just so hard not to.  And then I also printed out the perfect sentiment.  Now there’s an idea for a stamp set; common phrases that you hear on the streets of Europe.  Thanks for stopping by today, Bellas!

Make It Monday #49: Ghost Masking

Make It Monday #49: Ghost Masking by L. Bassen
Here’s a card for the latest Make it Monday Challenge-Ghost Masking.  I stamped a thick line from the faux ribbon set first and then used modern basics for the rest.  It took a few tries to get it right and uniformed looking.  I added some twine and buttons at the last minute.  This is another great technique that I’ve never tried before, but I’m sure it will be one that I will definitely do again.  Thanks for looking!

Runway Inspired Challenge #4

It’s time for the next Runway Inspired Challenge!
I’m a fool for anything rainbow, so no doubt I absolutely loved this inspiration photo.  I cut thin strips of paper, adhered them together and then die cut a small heart at the bottom.  The heart die is by Clear & Simple Stamps, which is also this week’s sponsor for the challenge.  The sentiment is also from the newly released set called Lucky Charm.

Hope you’ll play along!  Check out what the rest of the fabulous design team came up with.

The Punches Challenge

The Punches Challenge by L. Bassen
Here’s a card for the Punches Challenge over at Moxie Fab World.  I was SO inspired by this pattern from Some Prints. Isn’t is divine?  And there’s many more to feast on over there, too! I used my 1 3/8″ circle punch to punch the circles. Then I quartered them to create this design. Endless possibilities. I’m in love. Is it healthy to be in love with punched out quartered pieces of paper arranged in fabulous patterns? If lovin’ you is wrong, baby, then I don’t wanna be right!  Thanks for looking!

Make It Monday #48: Creating Backgrounds with Border Dies

Make It Monday #48: Creating Backgrounds with Border Dies by L. Bassen
Here are two cards for the latest Make it Monday Challenge-using border dies to create backgrounds.  I used the large scallop border die on some tissue paper to create a background.  Kinda fishy festive pinata-ish, don’t you thing?  Thanks for stopping by!
