Mama Elephant-Small Talk

Hello there! I’m back with Mama Elephant highlighting the new Small Talk stamp set.Mama Elephant-Small TalkFor my first card I combined the Woodland Gifts critters with the cute Small Talk set. That bear…he cracks me up every time with his stone face. He’s actually a “softy” but you wouldn’t know it just by lookin’ at him:) I masked the critters so the bunny could perch on the mushroom and I added a hilly ground with my multiliner pen and then masked it as well so I could add some subtle background ink blending. I have no good reason for adding the heart garland at the top. Not sure what compelled me to do that other than sneaking in a rainbow, lol.
Mama Elephant-Small TalkMy next card combines Photo Bomb with Small Talk.
Mama Elephant-Small TalkOk, I might have gotten a little bit carried away with the Small Talk word bubbles here, but this card would really make somebody smile, don’t you think? I don’t normally like to overkill on things, especially word bubbles, hearts, enamel dots, sequins, etc. I usually go with a less is more approach. Clearly I threw that out the window on this one, but oh well, it’s ok once in a while to just go with what makes you smile, even if it is overkill, right? That’s my story anyways.

Mama Elephant-Playful Pups

Hi there! Today I’m joining Mama Elephant as we begin highlighting the new May release sets. This card features the new Playful Pups stamp set.Mama Elephant-Playful PupsHow adorable are these pups? I couldn’t decide with puppy to use, so I just used almost all of them. I grouped them together using post-it notes as masks. While the masks were still on I used my mini ink blender to add subtle shading to the ground & sky with Rainwater & Mojito pigment inks and one of the Borderline trio dies to create the mask for the arch. Then I colored the pups with Copics. Oh my gosh, their expressions and personalities just crack me up!Mama Elephant-Playful PupsCheck out the Mama Elephant blog to see what the rest of the team has created with this adorable new Playful Pups set.

Mama Elephant-May Stampede

Welcome to the Mama Elephant Release Design Team blog hop!
Our newest release is now live and available for purchase in the store!

I used the new Small Talk & Woodland Gifts stamp sets on my card. How cute are these woodland critters that Elena designed? That bear just cracks me up with his stone face expression. I put the “yay” sentiment from Small Talk above him. It’s almost sarcastic the way he’s saying, “Yay” and his face is like, “Are you done, yet?” ha ha ha….there’s always a story in my head about what these critters are thinking.
Mama Elephant-Small TalkI used a bunch of masking to group the animals & balloons and then colored them in with Copics. I also used my ink blenders to add subtle color to the sky & grass and drew the ground with a Multiliner pen.

PTI-Release in Review

Hi there! I’m back with my final release in review post for Papertrey Ink. All new products will be available for purchase in the Papertrey Ink store tonight at 10pm EST.PTI-Enclosed: StarMy first card features the new Enclosed: Star stamp set with coordinating dies. I used the new Plaid Builder to stamp the stripes behind the die cut. Man, oh man do I love that Plaid Builder stamp set, and I’m having a very hard time putting it down.
PTI-Enclosed: StarNext up is the Center Style: Masculine stamp set with coordinating dies.
PTI-Center Style: MasculineI actually made this card with a friend of ours in mind, who is graduating from high school this weekend. I tried to match his school colors: scarlet jewel, gold & enchanted evening. Really love this clean & classic masculine look.
PTI-Center Style: MasculineNext is the Center Style: Feminine collection. I stamped the frame die cuts & paired it with a sentiment from the beautiful Garden Gild set. I popped it up over some polka dot Summer Sunrise pattern paper.
PTI-Center Style: FeminineAnd my final project features the Superhero stamp set. I love this set and I think this would have made an awesome Mother’s Day card, don’t you?
PTI-SuperheroI masked off the rectangle, blended in Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest & Raspberry Fizz ink. She’s a one-layer wonder card! Those are always my favorites!

Handmade Gifts for Guys

Hello! I’m back for another group post with Papertrey Ink showcasing some fabulous new products that are geared towards helping you celebrate the men in your life. The design team was challenged to take an older, more feminine card and use some of the new products to recreate it with a more masculine feel. I chose the card below, from last December’s release, as my inspiration.PTI-Phrase Play #11I used the new Text Block: Dad die with banners similar to my inspiration card but in masculine colors.
PTI-Text Block: Dad dieI stamped a sentiment from new Tucked In: Father’s Day on the inside of the card.

PTI-Tucked In: Father's DayThese text block dies and phrase play dies are some of my favorites to use. They make card making so quick & easy.PTI-Text Block: Dad dieNext up is a little gift to go along with the masculine theme.
PTI-Key Fob die &Keep It Simple: FatherI used the new Key Fob dies as well as the coordinating Stitched Medallion 2 dies. I used coordinating embroidery threads and kinda made some sort of design. I really had no idea what I was doing…I just went with it. I used the Gable Box die to create the packaging and embossed a sentiment from the new Keep it Simple: Father stamp set.
PTI-Key Fob dieYou don’t have to sacrifice style to create amazing masculine cards. These fun new products are just the ticket for letting the men in your life know how loved & appreciated they are in a stylish, trendy and heartfelt way.

Introducing Make It Market Mini Kit: Garden Gild

Hi there! I’m back again with Papertrey Ink as we introduce the new Make It Market Mini Kit: Garden Gild designed by Betsy Veldman.PTI-Garden GildThis new kit might be one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in a long time. I’ve created two cards using this kit. The first one is very simple and easy to recreate.
PTI-Garden GildI used one of the gorgeous pattern papers with the loose watercolor and “love” already printed on it. I added some additional stamped sentiments above & beneath it as well as adhering the cover plate on top. So simple to make and so gorgeous to give.
PTI-Garden GildMy next card was a bit more involved but totally worth the effort.
PTI-Garden GildThe cover plate that comes in the kit is so beautiful and intricate. Even though it’s pretty enough to leave plain white, it was begging me to color it with my Copics.
PTI-Garden GildAfter coloring it in, I layered it up with a few more cover plate die cuts to give it some dimension and thickness. I stamped a very simple sentiment from the stamp set and called it a day.
