Hello! Just popping in to share a Make It Monday video that I have over on the Papertrey Ink blog. I’m sharing a couple of ways to add color to your cover plates. For my first project I added color to the Peony Cover Plate using Copic Markers with some subtle ink blending on the card base.
On my next card I used one of the Zig Clean Color Markers in Carmine Red to add color to the In the Woods Cover Plate.
I also added some subtle aqua ink blending to the card base. I was going with a “under the sea” approach?? Is that a stretch? Maybe so. If not that then maybe a Japanese Cherry Blossom.
Here’s a video to show you how I made these two projects.
If you feel inspired to color one of your cover plates, feel free to join & link up your project over on the Papertrey Ink blogΒ for your chance to win $25 to spend at PTI. I’ll be checking the entries, so I’d love to see what you come up with! Thanks so much for stopping by!
So amazing! Love how your colored cover plates pop against the soft colored backgrounds! Love your name of Ziggy’s too because who can remember their full name? π
Love this idea! Thanks!
Beautiful cards. Love the coloring. And yes, the second one does look like an under water scene.
You’re cards are so ethereal and lovely…need to get me some of these Cover Plates.
BOTH stunning!
Gorgeous, Laura … and a fun and brilliant video, as ever! Anita π
I just started saving my negative space remnants to use just like this. It looks gorgeous!

Absolutely love these! I don’t have any cover plates, but now I think I just might need some. ^_^ Thanks for sharing, and thank you for the video.
Both of these cards were gorgeous! But I especially loved the “in the woods” card – as you (and a couple of commenters said) it does look like an underwater scene. What fun!
Oh my gosh Laura, this is FABULOUS! I cannot believe how beautiful they are, your coloring and ink blending is perfect on both.
Really pretty cards Laura. I had heard of cover plates, but, didn’t really know how to use them. Thanks for showing me. I’m going with the name “ziggy” too. Much easier to say.
Just lovely, Laura! I’m so happy to learn about a new way to personalize cover plates. I’m really enjoying my Ziggy’s, too! β‘
