March card kit projects

Hello there! Today I’m sharing a couple more projects made with the March card kit by Simon Says Stamp.SSS~March card kitI used the alpha stickers in the card kit to create the sentiment. I adhered it to some Lawn Fawn pattern paper that also comes in the kit. I’m going to save this card for my daughter. Turning thirteen hasn’t been the easiest thing she’s ever done. My husband is starting to confuse us for each other…that’s weird. He says when he glances quickly from far away, we can easily be mistaken. Hopefully this isn’t too devastating for her, lol! I certainly don’t mind getting mistaken for a thirteen year old, for heaven’s sake. I feel more like eighty half the time.
SSS~March card kitNext, I played around with the cool stencil that comes in the card kit.
SSS~March card kitI used two of the brand new ink colors by Simon Says Stamp…Mint and Audrey Blue. I used a 2 1/2″ circle punch on some post-it notes to mask the arches as I worked my way up the card.
SSS~March card kitThe sentiment is from the stamp set that comes in the card kit. I mounted it on a piece of vellum and added a bit of loose silver thread underneath. The Mint and Audrey Blue inks are a match made in inky heaven, don’t you think?
SSS~March card kitThat’s all for today! Thanks so much for stopping by!

  1. OMG! Only YOU would create that shell (wave?) pattern with the rainbow stencil! Awesome! And your first card is so fun for a 13 year old….or even an 80 year old! 😉

  2. Love both your cards, the sentiment is awesome on the first and the beautiful color and pattern on the second! Always fabulous!

  3. Such colourful but different cards! Thanks for sharing the technique photos, too.
P.S. I didn’t realize until your last video that your husband is a fellow Canuck. He is a very funny addition to your videos. Go Canada! 😉

  4. First of all, I think anyone would be grateful to look like you…secondly, both cards are gorgeoous. Love the sentiment you put on the first one and your stencil/masking with the new inks is awesome.

  5. It’s always so much fun to stop by your blog, Laura! I really ♥ how you created such a sweet sentiment on your first card…perfect for a 13 year old! How did you get your twine to drape so perfectly like that?
And, your stenciled card…WOW! I agree, those 2 colors are gorgeous together and your pattern is stunning! Thanks for showing us how you set it up!

  6. Your creativity just astounds me all the time! I love your first card, so sweet and perfect for a teenager! Your second card created from the rainbow stencil is fabulous!

  7. Aww, both cards are great! Cute story about your daughter — I second the notion that anyone would be happy to look like you!

Also, awesome and creative use of the rainbow stencil! After seeing yours and some other projects using it, I’m feeling like maybe it won’t just get buried in my stash after all. Thanks!

  8. I am wowed all. over. again! First, I love that happy sentiment! It’s fitting for a 13-year and 80-year old! I would totally mistake you for 13 year old! ( I do feel like 90 year old sometimes though.) I adore that cool background that you created with that little stencil ( I just got mine from SSS)! It’s impossible to top yours (LOL)!

  9. What an awesome sentiment for your happy girls card!! I need to start coming up with some fun things to say like that : ) Thanks for showing us your masking in progress. That background turned out so well!

  10. Your color combo and masking are fab on your second card. I like the way the back ink sentiment pops. The first card is darling – great sentiment 🙂

  11. The sentiment on that first card is so true! I’ve been mistaken for one of our older students at work – I didn’t complain LOL! 😉
Awesome stencil work on that second beauty!

  12. Great cards!
Funny, I was thinking last week
“They never show any card examples with the little letters from the kit”
    Love it!
    Great use of the stencil!
    Glad I got kit {and it came today!}

  13. Wow, I am blown away by the second card, it’s A-MAZING! Love the sentiment on the 1st card too. My girl just turned 10 & she’s already got image doubts. Lord, help me get thru!

  14. Great cards! Love what you did with the rainbow stencil and how in the world did you get those letter stickers so straight and centered! So cute.

  15. Such creative cards! I love that “homemade” sentiment – so perfect for a thirteen year old girl! And wow! I ADORE how you used the rainbow stencil, Laura! You’re right too – those two colors look amazing together! ♥

  16. Absolutely wonderful cards! So creative! Love the use of the stickers for such a sweet sentiment! Love the rainbow pattern (can I copy…we’ll try to anyway!) those colors are fabulous!

  17. I was so excited to get my SSS kit to try the crayon card you made last week and then you came up with a way to use the letters AND the stencil! Brilliant! I love the colors together as well and thank you so much for giving us a visual on the masking technique. You are amazingly talented and so funny. I love reading your posts – they always make me chuckle and smile.

  18. Gorgeous cards. I especially love the 2nd one cause you’re right, the mint and audrey blue together are just absolutely dreamy!!! Thanks for the inspiration.

  19. Love the giant-sized scallops (brain wondering if I can do that somehow with my MFT rainbow die). And BTW – back at ya with that sentiment 😉
